10 Facts about You (Day 1)
🎉Hi, I’m Hannah, an illustrator and designer
🎉I launched my business, Looksee Illustration, selling cards and gifts, less than a month ago
🎉I'm from England, and now call Scotland my home
🎉I used to play the saxophone
🎉I started doing a little bit of cross-stitch during lockdown
🎉I’m learning to cook and bake, sometimes even without setting off the fire alarm! Garlic Bread is one of my next recipes to try
🎉I love listening to podcasts while I’m working or cooking – especially any of the ones by BookRiot
🎉Every year my “To Be Read” list grows by a few thousand, and sadly I’m not reading books quite as quickly as I’m adding them!
🎉I'm always cold so I wrap up in approximately twenty layers of fluffy dressing gowns, blankets, and hot water bottles
🎉I’m a cat mama to a big old kitty called Dylan. He spends the majority of my work hours snoozing in his own swivel chair in the studio!
What does Just A Card mean to me? (Day 2)
🌻 Just A Card means: supporting small businesses, even if we order just one thing - these orders add up for artists and makers. I love every single order that you place with Looksee Illustration, however big or small, and I’m always grateful for your support.
🌻 Just A Card means: supporting individuals to make a living in a creative career. Our continued support, buying “Just A Card” once, or if possible then multiple times through the year, helps small businesses to grow. Every single card and pin here at Looksee Illustration is lovingly designed by me, Hannah; and every single order helps me to grow my business (and in turn keeps studio cat Dylan well-fed!)
🌻 Just A Card means: supporting the small businesses whose values align with our own. For many of us, that looks like supporting the businesses using eco-friendly packing materials. When you order “Just A Card” from Looksee Illustration, each card is enclosed in a compostable protective sleeve, and outer postal packaging is sealed with paper tape.
🌻 Just A Card means: connecting with your pal, sending them a beautifully illustrated Looksee Illustration card in the post, with the most luxurious texture! They’ll be over the moon for receiving such a lovely card from such a lovely person as you; and I’ll also be over the moon because one more fantastic person has one of our beautiful cards displayed on their mantelpiece!
Events, Shows, and Online Platforms (Day 3)
So where can you buy lovely things from Looksee Illustration?
I sell through my own online shop here.
My illustrations are mostly animal focused - so pop along if you like foxes, deer, rabbits, tigers, or cats!
In my current collections, you can find Hard Enamel Pins, Birthday Cards, and Christmas Cards.
Celebrate your favourite makers and small businesses (Day 4)
Every Christmas, my fiancé and I gift each other a Christmas tree decoration – it’s one of our traditions. This year, I received my Christmas gift early – because it was a workshop ticket to make my own ornament, yay!
I had so much fun at the ionalundiedesign Christmas Ornament workshop at Creative Strathaven!
My fiancé encouraged me to adapt my Looksee Illustration Fairytale Fox design for my ornament, to represent and celebrate this year’s business launch – and I’m so glad that I did because it turned out beautifully! Iona also supplies a whole sheet of gorgeous festive designs too, so there are plenty of options.
The combination of my lil fox design, along with the experience of learning new skills, are going to bring a smile to my face every year we pop up this decoration on the Christmas tree, and will be a fantastic memory for years to come!
A massive thank you to Iona for teaching us, I now have an even greater respect for the intricate details she creates for the jewellery she makes!
Pop over to Iona's website for more info on her upcoming workshops and private workshop events, and follow ionalundiedesign on Instagram to see all her beautiful earrings and more!
I’m feeling festive now, I want to put the tree up ASAP...how soon is too soon for Christmas trees?
